What do Saint Mary's Press, Google and Yahoo have in common?

Answer: Each of these companies has a CEO who is particularly attentive to the users of their products.

I recently came across a youtube video where the CEO of Salesforce was interviewing Yahoo President and CEO (and former google executive) Marissa Mayer.
In this interview, “Marissa Mayer joins salesforce.com Chairman and CEO Marc Benioff for a fireside conversation about business leadership and the future of the high tech industry at Dreamforce 2013". (Youtube)

The topics and realities addressed in this interview bare some resemblance to those encountered within our own and –no doubt–many organizations today.

The perspective that Marissa shares offers interesting and keen insights into a broad spectrum of topics including usability, simplicity, the role of design, the importance of a valuable & compelling proposition and “being mobile first”.

While the whole video is quite interesting, key in on minutes 2:00-12:00 where Marissa talks specifically about visiting users, users’ experience, and her perspective on the role users play.
